Iran short ‘Stage’ to vie at Sofia MENAR

Iranian short film ‘Stage’ has made its way to Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Stage’, directed by Amir Mohandesian, will compete in the 14th edition of Sofia MENAR next month.

‘Stage’ is about an athletic street performance that takes place on the outskirts of Tehran.

The film tells the story of a woman who is forced to give a performance though it is a male-dominated job.

Sofia MENAR Film Festival “makes Bulgarian audience familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islamic world”, according to an online submission platform.

“The program of Sofia MENAR Film Festival presents the best of the Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.”

 The 14th edition of the event will take place on January 14-30, 2022.
